Frankenstein Symbol

The Frankenstein novel has become a "cult" book that has not been equalled. The modern Prometheus not only breaks convention and taboo but gives humanity the power to create at his own image. The book seems to be prophetic as science and medecine get closer and closer to the mecanisms that command life and death.

Is Victor Frankenstein the symbol of the modern man that is no longer the master of his art but a puppet of evil forces?. Is the monster a sign that creation is only the power of god and all our attempts are bound to fail miserably.
